One of the unique rules during that period was that you had to pay a license fee to own a TV set. The result was that TV sets were mostly installed in public places such as hotel lobbies, clubs and big shops, for public viewing. Realizing the great potential for the new TV, Sharp was quick to put up a new production facility in Osaka for producing television sets in Japan. Sharps increased production rate of TV sets reached 5000 sets per month and all the sets were sold out.
To cater to the need of the newly started color Sharp TVs broad casting in Japan, Sharp started commercial production of color TV in Japan in 1960.
Sharp Electronics Corporation was established as a separate unit by Sharp in 1962 to take care of Export to other developed countries and to increase the sale of Sharp products. The primary objective of the Sharp Electronics Corporation was to export the TV and other electronic items manufactured by Sharp. The first step to develop exports was to establish a branch of this Sharp Electronics Corporation in New York City in USA.

Recent Review on Sharp TVs
A recent review on the Sharp LC-37G4U model with a similar TV made by Panasonic, Model TH -37PW6D6UY indicated that both the TVs are comparable, with the Panasonic model giving a slight edge over the Sharp model both are 37 in Plasma TV sets. The picture quality is comparable, though the speakers in the Sharp model have a little less output. The Sharp TVs are marketed at about US$ 3300.-
Many other TV reviews ranked Samsung TV as the best buy followed by LG models and Sony. The Sharp TVs ranking is low in the list.
Sharp makes TV with LED display. The popular model in this line is Sharp Quos LE925. The units have the 3D capability and by using a 3 D glass, one can view the picture in 3D dimension.

LED Sharp TVs makes use of a special technology in the product. This is termed Sharp Quos Quattro, Quad pixel, and Quad color LED TV Technology. The new technology is primarily to improve on the color matching of the television.
Sharp is also in the new High Density TV market. Sharp Quos LC 46 LE 81 UN model is a leader in this range. Such televisions are expensive and cost in the range of US$ 1000/-
The pioneer corporation in Japan is now a part of Sharp, but the company sells the brand Pioneer separately.
